It has been an absolute delight to welcome the bright-eyed and eager students who will be joining us as part of the first cohort in our Bachelor of Arts of Western Civilisation degree.
As my new colleagues and I are busily developing materials for the first iteration of the program, one of our students – Isabelle Carolan – was interviewed by The Catholic Weekly as she prepares to start her studies with us this coming Monday.
As Isabelle emphasises in interview, our degree “encompasses a broad range of the arts subjects. In other arts degrees you are forced to major in one area but with this course you are able to get a view of all those areas woven together, and how they have influenced each other from Ancient Greece to modern times, and how this has contributed to what we have today”.
We look forward with excitement to seeing what Isabelle and her fellow students in the first cohort make of their diet of academic work as their studies unfold.
